Micromanaging Bridezilla

So, have you ever known someone who was a severe micro manager? Someone who is SO incredibly Type A that they can't rely on anyone, no matter who they are, to be responsible enough to take on a task and follow through?!

I am a member of a wonderful organization this year, and we have a president who resembles the characteristics that I just described. She is a very nice women; however, she is unbelievable. Another member and I were elected to be chairman of a large fundraiser dinner and concert event that is held each year. This year the event will be held in August, and we will have a great band, as well as, a buffet dinner. It's going to be a great event and the fellow member and I have spent a lot of time planning and preparing for the event.

Unfortunately, for Mrs. Type A, that's just not enough. She emails us constantly, many times more than five times per day. If she thinks we aren't getting enough done, she will schedule a "conference call" during the middle of the work day. What is she thinking?! Does she not have a life and how in the world does she have a husband?!

She has stepped on our toes many times with her micromanaging ways, and I've had enough. I'm tired of being pushed around and stepped on. I'm tired of being managed like I am irresponsible and can't get the job done. It's SO frustrating, and more than anything it hurts. I've always been a very organized, type A person, as well, and I'm a natural leader, so I get the job done when asked to do something; however, this women makes it look like I have never been responsible for anything in my life. She doesn't even give us the time to try it out on our own and make a mistake...she takes it into her own hands and makes the decisions for us or pushes us in the right direction.

I want to say something to her to let her know how I'm feeling, but I don't want to be mean. As I said before, she is a very nice women on a day-to-day basis, and I don't want to burn any bridges. The event isn't until August 20th! But how do I let her know that it's frustrating to me, and it makes me feel very worthless?

As for the bridezilla in the title...on a conference call that we had last week, she used the comparison of wedding planners and the bride. She said that she, along with the overall board members, are the bride, and they are responsible for making the final decisions, and we (myself and the fellow chair) are wedding planners. We go out and do all the hardwork, and we come back to the "bride" with our findings, and they make the decisions. First off, that is totally unfair...why would I volunteer to spend all my time on something, if I'm just a wedding planner and my opinion and thoughts don't matter?! And second, if we are the wedding planners, then she is the ultimate Bridezilla!!

Weekend Recap

So, I had one of the best weekends in a long time...Grant and I are constantly on the go, and we rarely have any time to just sit down and relax. This weekend was the first weekend since I can even remember that we didn't have any plans for the entire weekend, and it was absolutely wonderful.

On Friday, my parents came over, because Grant is working on painting the exterior of our house, and he had rented some scaffolding and needed some help getting it up. So, my mom and I just talked and went and got pizza for the workers! :) On Saturday, Grant worked outside all day, and I ran some errands, did some homework for my MBA and went to the baby store in town just to look around. It was really a lot of fun! I also relaxed on the couch and took a nap!

On Sunday, my dad came back over to help Grant some more, and I finished up my homework, made lunch for Grant and Dad and took another nap. It was just awesome to not have to do anything all weekend. To not have to rush around to some event (shower, wedding, get-together, etc.) was awesome!

I'm looking forward to a short week. We have a three and a half day work week, and I'm planning on working from home on Thursday, so it'll be a three day in-office week. It's going to be great. I don't have any meetings this week either, so I'm thrilled! We have no plans for the 4th Of July weekend, but I'm still very excited about it. My parents are going out of town, so we won't see them, and I have a feeling that Grant's parents will be going out of town, as well. But that's okay! We'll have a good time hanging out together...we plan to go see a movie and go see the fireworks in town. We would've gone on vacation to our beach house too, but we decided not to, because Grant wants to finish painting the house this weekend. This weekend marks the anniversary date of our engagement since we got engaged on July 4th, 2008! Yay! :)

Doctor's Appointment, Emotional & 9 Weeks

Not a whole lot is going on today, so I figured I would catch up on a few things that I haven't posted about lately.

First up, I went to the Doctor's office on Tuesday for my second appointment! The baby is growing right on track and measuring at exactly 9 weeks! :) It was SO cool, and it was great being able to see our baby and hear Baby H's heartbeat. It's heart was beating at a quick 176 bpm! I got quite a bit of blood drawn, and I got to talk with the doctor. It was all in all a good appointment. Nothing exciting or interesting to report, but it was good and so great to see Baby H again!

Next, I've just been so emotional lately...I'm sure it has a lot to do with all the hormones, but I cry watching things on the news, I cry at TV shows, I cry reading peoples blogs...it's like a never ending waterworks. I've never been extremely emotional before, so this is so strange to me. Grant just looks at me and laughs, because it happens so frequently.

Last, I'm going to leave with my 9 Week Questionnaire:

How far along? 9 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 1-2 lbs...Haven't really changed from last week!
Maternity clothes? My mom bought me some at TJ Maxx and Ross, but I'm not wearing them yet!
Stretch marks? Nope...hoping I don't get them!
Sleep: A little between having to get up to go to the bathroom anywhere from 2-4 x's per night
Best moment this week: Getting to see Baby H again and hearing the heartbeat!
Movement: Not yet...
Food cravings: Chinese
Gender: Don't know yet...
Labor Signs: None, thankfully! Ha-Ha! :)
Belly Button in or out? In
What I am looking forward to: Finding out if it's a boy or a girl and painting the nursery!
Weekly Wisdom: I'm not that wise when it comes to being pregnant, so I'll just leave this empty!
Milestones: Figuring out how to not be nauseous! :)

Also, if you haven't taken the poll about whether Baby Harvey is a Boy or Girl...Please do!

Adding Another to the Mix...

So, I'm adding one more Christmas Card option to the mix since there was no "clear" winner in the vote for the previous post of Christmas Card ideas. So, here is one more...Now, which one do you like best? Still one of the two in the post below or is this one the favorite?! I'm struggling with making a decision, so hopefully this addition will help! :)

Is Baby Harvey a Boy or Girl?

So, I've created a poll for readers to guess whether Baby Harvey will be a Weston James (Boy) or Madison Grace (Girl), so please feel free to take your guess! We still have some time before we'll likely know whether it's a boy or girl, but we are looking forward to knowing the sex of our baby! And it's a pretty big debate amongst our families...What is your vote? Please vote in the poll on the right hand side of the screen! :)

Baby Names

So, Grant and I spent some time thinking about baby names this weekend, and we came up with both a boy's name and a girl's name, and we are SO excited about both of them. We have had a boys name picked out since sometime when we were dating, and we happened to be talking about baby names, but we came up with the girl's name this weekend. Now, we are both really anxious to find out whether we are having a boy or a girl. Here are the names:

Weston James Harvey
Madison Grace Harvey

So, what do you all think?

Holiday Cards

So, I'm such a planner, and I've already bought the majority of my Christmas Gifts for this upcoming Christmas. I know, it's SO long away, but I've been trying to knock everything out early.

On that note, I'd like to go ahead and get my Christmas Cards done for this year, so that I can address them at my leisure, and I can just get them finished and ready to mail at the appropriate time. Anyways, I know that I want to put a wedding photo on our card, because it's the only year that I can do that, but I'm having trouble deciding which picture...that's where you guys come in. Here are some of the photos that I'm considering...please comment and let me know which one you would choose. :)

It's My Friday!!

So, one of my closest friends is getting married on Saturday, and I'm SO excited and happy for her.

Amanda and I have only been friends since June 2007, and we met through Grant. When I met Grant, he spent all of his weekends hanging out with the same group of friends, and they were all very close and very "cliquish", so it was very difficult to break my way into the group. The girlfriends of his buddies didn't care for me much, and it was a tough thing for me, because I've always been liked by most people. I didn't meet Amanda right away, because she was never in town when I was visiting and hanging out with Grant's friends, but we went to one of the friend's weddings one Saturday evening and Amanda was at the wedding. She immediately came up and introduced herself to me and told me that it was great to meet me, and we've been friends ever since.

She lived in Athens and so did I, but Grant didn't...so, we would hang out during the week when I couldn't see Grant. We would go to the gym together, go to the mall together and cook dinner together. We had some great memories, and we became close friends very quickly. She was in my wedding on May 2nd, and she is now getting married to one of Grant's closest friends. I am so excited for them, but I'm also very sad. Max, Amanda's fiance, lives in South Carolina and works on a Plantation, so she has moved to South Carolina with him. It's tough, because we spent so much time together and so one another so often even after Grant and I were married. She was my one steadfast gym partner. Now, she's moved, and our relationship is bound to change. I know that we will remain friends forever, but it'll be so different. She is now three and a half hours away, and I miss her already even though she's only been moved for a week. :)

It's going to be a great weekend. We have the bridal luncheon downtown tomorrow at this awesome restaurant, manicures and pedicures following lunch, then the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner tomorrow evening. Then, Saturday will be filled with wedding preparations! I'll post photos when I get back to the office on Monday. :) I'll close with a few pictures of Amanda and I from mine and Grant's wedding.
